Hmmmm been a bit.

Got a new phone. Didn't want to, but my old one struggles to keep its backplate on after a swollen battery.- Actually let's dig into phone.

I got a Pixel the 10th with no real consideration. My parents upgraded theirs and were telling me i can get the "special promo" on it and i shrugged because i don't think any phone I can get is one I'd want over any other. They all need me to opt of binding arbitration with google and shut off a bunch of AI shit and all kinds of garbo.

So here's what I like about my new phone! My old one was so old that my banking app refused to run on it a few months back, which meant changing up how I pay rent. Hitting the react button on Discord would crash the app! It'll run Nubby when the mobile port comes out.

Because it's a lot thicker (which I didn't think was gonna be the case) it's actually nicer to hold in landscape mode which I basically never did with the previous one.

I'm older and wiser and discreeter and am finally saying fuck it and putting horny furry kink art as my wallpaper.

Shit I do not like about my new phone: My old phone was a had a tiny 2nd screen to display notifiations and things on. I could see what time it was and if I had any messages on Telegram without having to touch the device. Now I'm being very oblivious to the time, which I don't like, and the notifs. which I don't mind so much.

The shitty google search bar that takes up a huge amount of screen real estate. I've gone as far to install an alternate launcher of F-Droid that I hope will function forever. Still not as good or adapatable as my previous phone so far.

It likes to give "suggestions" when I'd rather it shut the fuck up. I got a notification at one point suggesting I decrease how long the screen stays on for so my battery will last longer when I am the one who chose to raise that amount in the first place. Shut the fuck up!!!!!!!!!!

The various shortcuts you get in the notifications screen to do things like bluetooth or airplane mode somehow does not include a brightness slider? I have to pull down a second time to adjust brightness? And I can edit these buttons but not move or do anything with the brightness slider that's tucked away????

I got into using an FTP server app to copy files. The program (Primitive ftpd) has a bunch of modes it can use suggesting what it can actually do varies between models. I gotta try the other slightly-more painful alternate options and hope one of those work because otherwise I only get read-only access.

The thing ain't awful to use, but I inherently do not trust modern hardware, and the old one probably wasn't any better, but the new phone has me putting in effort to try and stop it from grabbing whatever data it can so i'm going in more aggressively
