I want to properly sit down and write about the trip I got back from like I used to when went to cons or visited friends across the country in my livejournal days, but I also realize that putting it off almost certainly means never doing it like the 20 other posts I tell myself to write sometime.

So last week my partner and I flew out to Harrisburg to attend a friend's wedding.

We rideshared to the airport as we couldn't get a ride. I didn't have RealID, but knew I wouldn't have to acutally worry about it. Sure enough saying it was my only idea just got me a tiny sheet of paper telling me they started wanting RealID earlier this year.

From Seattle to Chicago went just fine, but afterwards it was a mess. We had a short layover and had to haul ass to our gate, only for it to change to another terminal entirely which meant 0 time to eat. When we boarded the plane there was a line to depart and we were sitting there for another hour.

We landed very late at night and had to get another rideshare to a cheap hotel that we regretted picking to stay at. It was like 1am local time when we checked in and we hadn't eaten anything but airline pretzels in 12 hours. The vending machines in the lobby were at least cheap. "Dinner" was a bag of Munchies, a peanut-butter cup, and a milky way.

The room felt kind of gross but at least it was a bed. Woke up the next morning at 8:30 to a fire alarm going off since someone burned something making breakfast(?). Everything had been put away by the time we got down there so we continued not to eat. We thought we had to be there at 3, but there was a bunch of pre-reception stuff for the bride's party which meant not walking a mile to a wendy's for food.

Rideshare to near the venue. Was expecting a bad day as we had to walk around a bit before finding where we were supposed to go on a hot day with a lot of bugs out. But once we arrived proper things slowly began to get better. Got to meet an old pal again and her husband for the first time. We all got put to work helping assemble things like cardboard roman pillars.

The venue was actually Bride A's parents' place, with like 50 acres behind it. It was really gorgeous and made a great space for the wedding. We hung up some flags on branches by tying them to rope and then chucking it over a tree branch to make a pulley.

Okay this is as far as I got before losing interest. How'd I used to do this?
